Equipment and Gear

Many people like to know what equipment I use to take my photographs, so I have included this section to briefly outline what equipment I use and where I get it from.

I use Nikon equipment and a selection of other pieces of kit.  My Lowepro Pro Trekker 400AW camera bag usually consists of:

-  Nikon D800 dslr
-  Nikon D300 dslr
-  Nikon 200-400 F4 lens protected with Neoprene Lens Protectors
-  Nikon 18-55mm
-  Nikon SB600 flash
-  Nikon 1.4 Teleconverter

In addition to the above items, I always have a lenspudz cloth, wireless trigger and plenty of spare memory cards.  To get close to wildlife I use a combination of hides and stalking.  Often I find that scrim netting works well to conceal my presence quickly and easily.  Most of the equipment I use can purchased through Wildlife Watching Supplies.

When working with mobile subjects such as Deer and Otters, I find that the waterproof bag hide is really good bit of kit to have, along with a large bean bag.  This allows you to stay concealed but have a steady platform to shoot from.

I use a number of trailcameras to scout potential areas to see what animals are active before planning where to place my hides.  Using ground spikes to secure the camera to the ground is a handy way to get a low level view of the animals that pass by.
